Through the Rivers, Through the Waters

2015 Edo

The ideas and symbolic narrative that form the basis of Edo Period Japanese Gardens are the starting point for this series of paintings. Following an anti clockwise direction, the viewer is led through the paintings encountering obsticals and symbols that are designed to reflect an individuals life, both spiritual and temporal, as was done in traditional Edo Period garden design.

“Japan has always been an inspiration place for me, the beautiful, elegant aesthetic I’ve sought to represent in these new paintings”
